A downloadable game for Windows and macOS

Help lift a troubled — but lovable — soul out of purgatory by overcoming a series of  serious platforming challenges. Inspired by the classic game Celeste, reDEATH provides a fast-paced challenge set in a beautiful pixel-art world.

DEVELOPMENT NOTE: The game is currently in development, with 1/3 chapters complete. My very crude estimate is that about 80% of the core mechanics are done, and 30% of the level design, and maybe 15% of the world-building (random details + story).

Are you good enough to make it into heaven? And should you even care?

- Smooth controls and mechanics that are simple to learn but hard to master.

- Fast respawns to keep tough challenges exciting but manageable.

Install instructions

WINDOWS:

You simply need to extract the zip file, then run `redeath.exe` which is contained inside this folder.

NOTE: You _must_ launch the game from this exe, as it depends on relative paths into the `assets` folder (located right next to it). If you would like to be able to launch it elsewhere, I recommend creating a shortcut.

MAC:

IMPORTANT: Only Apple Silicon is currently supported (M1 or newer). Intel-based Macs will get support by the end of January 2025.

Download the `.dmg` and then open it. Drag the `reDEATH` app into your applications folder when prompted, then run the application.

Because I have not bribed Apple $100 to "verify my developer account" it'll complain that the game is damaged. This fixes it. This will also be fixed by the end of January 2025.

Amazing game!! Super good game feel, movement, sfx, and music. I would love to see some options, I know it may be difficult but it would be great to be able to rebind some buttons, I find j and k for jump and dash quite confusing. I would also like to see "Press ENTER to start" on the title screen, cause I'll be honest, it took me a while to figure it out. I would also really like to see an easily accessible option to quit the game, I was not able to find one. Keep it up, I look forward to see this game grow as development continues!

Thanks so much for playing, it means a lot!

Key rebinding is on the roadmap. I know it’ll be really important, especially for players coming from Celeste which has very different bindings. Controller support also coming as part of that.

Totally agree that the title screen and UI in general needs more love, plan is to totally overhaul it. It’s definitely too hard to get around, mostly a skill issue on my end.

The game is very much still in development so keep your eye out for new updates. Thanks again!
